It's been on my list for over three weeks now - "post on the blog". Sometimes, it takes no excuses, combined with a Saturday morning on the couch cuddled with a kid, to make that list item disappear!
We welcome everybody to one of the most influential weeks of the year - Catholic Schools Week! As you know, Catholic Schools Week is a national celebration of Catholic Schools, one to show unity among the system and to promote Catholic Schools to those outside of our walls. We are so proud of our students, and we have traditionally set aside this week at OLA to plan some fun activities for the students.
We have posted our activities to the school website and parish bulletin - we hope you are able to attend!
Also, we will have a closing Liturgy at the 5:00 Mass on Saturday, February 1. Our liturgy will be followed by a Pasta Dinner, which will include pasta with homemade sauce, special salad, fresh-baked sweet Italian Bread (it's actually the recipe from Avanti's, which is a famous Italian restaurant in central Illinois, if you've ever been that way), and spumoni for dessert. I'll be doing the majority of the cooking, so pray that the magic of culinary arts is on my side! During Mass, I'll be handing the reigns over to our own kitchen artist, Amy Walker, and our very own Vickie; they'll make the vision happen!!
Of course, plan on joining the Home and School Association for the dance to follow the pasta dinner. It'll be a great night!
On Monday, February 3, all of our teachers will be presenting to the teachers in our Area of the Diocese in mini-workshops that center around technology in the classroom. We are happy to host all of these teachers, but it's a lot of work from our own staff, shortly after Catholic Schools Week. Pray that we have the timing and wisdom to make it all happen!
We'll see everybody around this week - pray for the weather to turn north, quickly!!
God Bless,
Mike
