One of my challenges during my music teaching years was "goal setting", or rather, advance planning. If a concert or production was technically and emotionally ready long before the performance date, it would turn stagnant and stale. Moreso, if the concert or production was ready after the performance date....well, you get the picture. It would be ugly!
We have to to do the same thing at the building level - we are always evaluating where we're going, and how we get there. In general, I keep an outline anywhere from a day away up to three years. Keeping in mind that we may need to change course for the latter goals, we continue the work moving forward.
Here's a few of my own goals for our building in the years to come:
These are just some of the major goals to which we work; we also have a myriad of short-term goals that are just as effective but don't require as much effort or time. At the end of the day, however, all of the goals can be summarized in to one: Serve the Children.
Make it a great day!!

Here's a few of my own goals for our building in the years to come:
- Work towards a standards-based report card system (also a goal set by the Office of Catholic Schools at the Diocese of Madison)
- Revision of curriculum in all content areas
- Integration of 1:1 iPad initiative at all grade levels; further synthesis with existing technologies
- Maintaining a strong Catholic dimension; both in word and action. Somewhat related is the re-energization of OLA as a Parochial school.
- Increased family participation in school.
- Policy revision to reflect current needs of families
